Avison Young Hires New Portfolio Manager for Real Estate Group

NEW YORK CITY- Commercial real estate services firm Avison Young has hired Dennis Sherry as senior portfolio manager of the firm’s real estate management group. He joins the company from Newmark Knight Frank and is tasked to oversee operations and bolster client relationships, according to Mitti Liebersohn, president and managing director of Avison Young’s New York City Operations. 

Sherry has over two decades of real estate experience in the various areas of property and facilities management, including portfolio planning, development, due diligence, negotiations, asset management and deal-sourcing.

“Dennis will push our New York operations forward, making lasting and strong contributions that will broaden our expertise, while bolstering our client relationships and adding tremendous value to their assets,” Michael Sullivan, Avison Young’s principal and executive director of NYC asset services, said in a prepared statement.

Sherry has managed a variety of portfolios with up to 50 properties and budgets up to an estimated $54 million. He has worked at Newmark Knight Frank, CBRE, Jones Lang LaSalle and The Rockefeller Development Group. 

While at Newmark Knight Frank, Sherry drove annual gross revenue of $60 million and managed $45 million in payroll and $15 million in management service fees.

Other career highlights include overseeing the Lehman Brothers portfolio of owned and leased properties across Manhattan for The Rockefeller Group and leading CBRE’s Asset Services Group, where he supported 15 property managers accountable for 22 commercial office properties across the New York City market.  

Sherry is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and has completed masters-level courses at New York University’s Real Estate Program. He is a Board Member of Fanwood’s Planning & Zoning Board and is a member of both BOMA and REBNY.
